DUAL HELIX FACTS
Hastings Rod Manufacturing's proprietary "Dual Helix" ply construction produces a rod blank that has outstanding resistance to both crushing and twisting.Unique construction technique, adapted from our experience in aerospace activities, is superior to the conventional rod blank roll-wrap manufacturing process adopted years ago from the textile industry.
Two advantages are readily apparent:
Firstly, the Dual Helix structure keeps the rod round when heavily loaded during casting or fighting a hooked fish. The Dual Helix construction adds extraordinary crush and nick resistance.
The second major advantage is the outstanding resistance to twist imparted to the blank through the Dual Helix design.

WHICH SERIES IS BEST ?
Due to the materials and the construction techniques used, Pioneer, Challenger, Advantage , United and Graphite-USA blanks and rods have a different actions.Overall, Pioneer and United blanks and rods have a faster tip than the comparable model in Graphite-USA.
Fishing techniques between fast tip and more parabolic rods are slightly different. Which is better depends on personal preference.
If you are getting a custom rod made, be aware that your unfinished blank will feel much different than your finished custom rod!
